The Caribbean is a vibrant, beautiful region best known for islands that have crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches and unique cultures. There are countless destinations within the region to choose from, but a few standout as places I would definitely return to. Whether you're looking for a quiet beach to meditate on or a thrilling excursion, the Caribbean has something for everyone.
Here are three destinations to consider:
Jamaica

Jamaica is one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean for tourists and has lots of things to do. The island is known for its laid-back atmosphere, music scene and cuisine.
It's a popular destination for travelers seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure, as the island offers plenty of beaches and things to do. Attractions like the famous Dunn's River Falls, the Blue Mountains, tours that celebrate the late Reggae icon Bob Marley and scenic areas like Negril are all popular among tourists and residents alike.
June can be a great time to visit the island and experience great weather --around 82 -90 degrees -- and fewer crowds than in extremely crowded July.
Personal experience: I've visited Jamaica twice and enjoyed both trips. If you've never visited the Caribbean, Jamaica is definitely a great option. Much of the experience caters to tourist wants, and there's a lot to do, especially in Montego Bay.
Barbados

Barbados is a tropical paradise that might be even more laid-back than Jamaica.
Though it's a thriving tourist destination, it is less so than some other Caribbean destinations, but still offers all the beauty. It's perfect for a romantic getaway or family vacation because of its lower crime rate and the idea of "limin'," a Bajan belief in relaxing or hanging out.
Fridays on the island yield an island-wide outdoor party at Oistins Beach, where guests can expect live music, fresh-caught seafood -- including the flying fish and cou-cou, a blend of fish and cornmeal-- and more.
Personal experience: I loved Barbados. It felt less touristy than Jamaica, but still a good time. It was also a very relaxed island where we took public transportation and shopped at the local grocery store for snacks. We did a boat tour, but other than that, we really just hung out. For us, it was definitely all about limin' in Barbados.
St. Lucia

This lush island is known for its natural beauty and romantic, relaxing atmosphere.
St. Lucia is well-known for its famous landmarks like the Piton mountains, rainforests and its natural sulphur springs where guests can take a dip and see benefits in their skin.
St. Lucia is possibly one of the most picturesque destinations in the Caribbean, as it has mountains, lush land, soft beaches and more. Every direction equals a spectacular view.
Personal experience: St. Lucia is beautiful. And I mean...beautiful. It can't even really be captured. It's also less "commercially developed" than some other popular islands islands, meaning, there aren't too many corporate hotels or chains there. It feels and looks like a natural paradise.
No matter which Caribbean destination you choose, you're sure to be greeted with warm hospitality, stunning scenery and a vibrant culture that will help make your trip unforgettable.
